Outreach librarians provide an essential service in NHS playing a key role in Patient Care and Research, by searching out information for care professionals on treatments and cutting edge techniques to inform practitioners of the best way to care for patients. 
 
Outreach librarians in universities and colleges can be the virtual face of information services to learners, assisting with questions from learners who can’t visit the library in person. Outreach librarians are at the cutting edge of technology in educational libraries often looking after repositories of e-books e- journals and online learning materials. 
 
To be an outreach librarian you will need to be flexible and forward thinking, Problem solving and ‘thinking outside of the box’ skills can be a real advantage! Top notch communication skills and the ability to work well with others are essentials. Your IT skills will be used to their full and you’ll get the chance to share them by delivering information skills training to a range of users. If you like solving puzzles and helping people this is the job for you!
