Libraries, especially public libraries, reach out to some of the most vulnerable people in society. Staff are supportive and non-judgemental, and many of the services free at the point of delivery. They provide somewhere to go where your individual needs will be recognised and supported, a point of contact with the wider community, a source of information and learning support.
Library and archives staff work with the very young and the very old, with immigrant groups, people with disabilities or particular learning needs, community groups and local charities.
